Visioning Workshop

Visioning Workshop

June 21-24

The City of Montebello hosted a four-day Visioning Workshop from June 21-24.  The 4-day visioning workshop informed, inspired, engaged, and collaborated with the participants in short feedback loops to develop a consensus on a citywide vision for growth, preservation, and renewal.

The consulting team gave Noon talks on market demand; elements of vibrant places; mobility and parking trends; elements of great neighborhood; and codifying the vision. The Noontime presentations discussed trends, alternatives, and tradeoffs that inspired a spirited dialogue, which carried into the evening discussions. In the evening, the community came together to discuss various options for growth, preservation, and reinvestment. The project team worked in short iterative feedback loops. Based on the community feedback, the consulting team returned back to the drawing board to make edits and refine the concepts with details for the public and private realm.

The Visioning Workshop was a collaborative and rigorous planning event that harnessed the talents and energies of individuals to create and support an overall vision for the City and the Downtown Specific Plan area.

Recorded Presentations

Noon Talks

“Love the statement of two beautiful buildings next to each other being great architecture, but two beautiful buildings across from each other and how that’s Urbanism. The opportunity is how to activate the space in between those two buildings.” — Barney Santos, Chat Note from Vibrant Places Noon Talk
“I think that as long as we ensure that the Gold Line is not on an elevated cement platform but instead that it is built at ground-level that we will avoid what I called “splitting the City.” — Alexandra Briseno, Chat Note from Vibrant Places Noon Talk
“Kaizer and his team have done a fantastic job in presenting what Montebello needs in updating the general and specific plan.” — JD’s Iphone,  Chat Note from Great Neighborhood & Codifying the Vision Noon Talk

Evening Presentations

“Thank you very much for this presentation, it feels like a direction we’d like to pursue.” —  Marlene Ramirez, Chat Note from Day 3 Evening Feedback Meeting
