Neighborhoods are not just places we live in. They are evolving communities where we create multi-generational memories and traditions. The physical quality of a neighborhood – its streets, open spaces, and buildings – all have a direct relationship to the quality of life they accord on a daily basis. From the size of a neighborhood to the location of retail, and from the quality of its dwellings to the design of their frontages, the design of great neighborhoods is never an accident.

At the Visioning Charrette Noon Talk on Thursday, June 24th, Vinayak Bharne discussed some of the ingredients of great neighborhoods, and specifically focus on how various dwelling types – from single-family homes and townhouses to courtyard housing, can create places of enduring character and quality.
